We hosted Quai Network + Akash Network on campus and flexed Web3 knowledge!
JCI Week had us saving lives, dropping hot takes, and flexing our sport prowess.

Sad but true: BIU event postponed—but not canceled!

June Highlights: Community Energy, Turned Up
QUAI NETWORK EVENT
You already know we love linking up IRL, and Quai came through heavy with the heat🔥. Quai’s campus tour made a vibrant stop at Unilag, and the energy was unmatched. We didn’t just meet up to vibe, we learned– alot.
We dug into Quai’s unique architecture: a novel, gasless blockchain made up of multiple threads and zones, each operating independently but secured together through Proof-of-Work. No gas fees. Yup, you read that right. Quai is pushing the edge with horizontally scalable and miner-synced chains, they’re cooking something futuristic.
We capped it off with a fun game Flappy Boss, a game built on Quai, had us flexing our reaction time. Some of us flapped like champs, others… well, let’s just say we tried 😅. Either way, it was learning, playing, and building vibes—all in one.

AKASH NETWORK MEETUP
Akash Accelerate 2025 came to Lagos, guess where they landed? The prestigious university of Lagos with web 3 unilag. The clouds parted and Akash showed us the decentralized cloud life. We had a whole lot of fire conversations on AI, Crypto, Web3, DePIN, and decentralized GPU compute streamed LIVE from NYC + live speakers from across Africa dropping real time gems and many more. Plus, we had great convos and, of course, soft chops, kilishi surplus 😎
JCI WEEK RECAP
In partnership with JCI, we stepped out to make impact and flex Web3 spirit in real-time. Here’s how it went down:
Blood Drive Day: We pulled up sleeves (literally) to save lives. Big ups to all the donors—you’re real MVPs.
Inter-Faculty Debate: The brains of variousfaculties came out to rep their colours. With brillaint delivery and poise, the debaters wowed over the audience and judges with great points. It was a very enjoyable and fierce battle, looking forward to the next edition.
Sports Day: Web3Unilag laced up and showed out. Alongside JCI Unilag, AIESEC Unilag, and Rotaract Unilag, we hit the field to prove that Web3 isn’t just about keyboards, charts and code, we’ve got real-life stamina too. From relays to football to brainy board games, we came with energy.
And let’s be honest—if we’ve survived rug pulls, market dips, and Discord hacks, what’s a little sweat and competition?
📢 Important Update: BIU Event Postponed
We know many of you were excited about the upcoming edition of Blockchain in Unilag.
We were too 🥲 But hey, good things take time.
We’re officially announcing that the BIU Event has been postponed, and the new date will be shared as soon as it’s confirmed. Stay tuned, we’ll be coming correct.
